In our home, we love meals that feel intentional but don’t require hours in the kitchen. This Sweet Heat Bowl checks all the boxes: simple, flavorful, and adaptable to whatever veggies or protein you have on hand.

The star of the show is the Sweet Heat Sauce, a spicy-sweet drizzle that instantly makes roasted veggies, crispy tofu, or even chicken taste like something from your favorite takeout spot. Pair it with a tray of roasted sheet pan veggies and a scoop of rice, and dinner is done.

✨ Sweet Heat Sauce

A spicy-sweet drizzle that’s good on everything.

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp mayonnaise (or vegan mayo)

  • 1–2 tsp Sriracha (adjust for heat)

  • 2 Tbsp Homemade Sweet Soy Glaze (recipe below)

  • 1 tsp rice vinegar (more for tang, less for sweet)

  • 1 pinch sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)

  • Water, as needed (to thin)

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayo, Sriracha, sweet soy glaze, vinegar, and sugar.

  2. Add water 1 tsp at a time until you reach a drizzling consistency.

  3. Taste and add more vinegar for tang, or more glaze for sweetness, or more Sriracha if you want extra heat.

  4. Drizzle over bowls, roasted veggies, tofu, or chicken.

🍯 Homemade Sweet Soy Glaze

A two-ingredient glaze you’ll want to keep in your fridge for quick meals all week.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup soy sauce

  • ½ cup brown sugar (you can also experiment with honey or maple syrup)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce and brown sugar.

  2. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.

  3. Reduce heat and simmer for about 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened into a glaze.

  4. Remove from heat and let cool (it will thicken more as it cools).

  5. Store leftovers in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

🥕 Sheet Pan Veggies

Choose your favorites: broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, green beans, or whatever’s in your fridge.

Ingredients

  • 4–6 cups mixed vegetables of your choice

  • To ur choice of protein (we chose tofu)

  • 2 Tbsp avocado oil (or olive oil)

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • ¼–½ cup Homemade Sweet Soy Glaze (or more, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 475°F.

  2. On a sheet pan, toss vegetables with avocado oil until evenly coated. Season with salt and pepper.

  3. Roast for 20-30 minutes, or until veggies are softened with slight browning.

  4. Remove pan from oven and drizzle veggies with sweet soy glaze, tossing to coat.

  5. Return to oven for another 10 minutes, until caramelized and glossy.

🌿 How We Serve It

To build your Sweet Heat Bowl:

  1. Add a scoop of rice (white, brown, or even quinoa).

  2. Top with a generous portion of sheet pan veggies.

  3. Add your favorite protein (crispy tofu, grilled chicken, or salmon all work beautifully).

  4. Drizzle everything with Sweet Heat Sauce.

It’s colorful, simple, and family-friendly. One of those meals you’ll find yourself making again and again.
